2017년도 한국통계학회 추계 학술논문발표회가 2017년 11월 10일(금)부터 11월 11일(토)까지 연세대학교 응용통계학과 주관으로 연세대학교 대우관에서 개최되었습니다.
대구대학교 전산통계학과에서도 참여하여 총 7편의 연구논문을 발표하였습니다.

학회장 초청강연은 서울대학교 명예교수님이신 박성현 교수님께서, "4차 산업혁명과 통계학, 그리고 데이터 사이언스"에 대해 강연을 해주셨습니다.
박성현 교수님은 1968년에 서울대 화학공학과를 졸업하시고, 1972년과 1975년에 North Carolina 주립대에서 산업공학 석사와 통계학 박사 학위를 받으셨습니다. Mississippi 주립대 경영대학에서 조교수로 2년간 근무하시고, 1977년에 서울대 통계학과에 부임하셨습니다. 2010년까지 30여년 교수로 재직하시고, 지금은 명예교수로 계십니다. 2010년부터 2년간 한국연구재단 기초연구본부장을, 2013년부터 3년간은 한국과학기술한림원 원장을 역임하셨습니다.
1995년 11월부터 1997년 11월까지 한국통계학회 회장, 1999년 12월부터 2001년 12월 까지 한국품질경영학회 회장, 2013년 9월부터 2015년 10월까지 국가과학기술자문회의 자문위원 겸 과학기술기반분과 의장으로 활동하셨습니다. 서울대 근무하시는 동안은 학생처장, 자연과학대학 학장, 평의원회 의장 등의 보직을 수행하셨습니다. 현재는 미국통계학회와 미국품질학회의 Fellow이시며 사회적책임경영품질원 회장으로 계십니다.
2000년 품질경영 유공자로 근정훈장 홍조장, 2008년 서울시 문화 진흥 공로로 서울특별시 문화상, 2015년 과학기술진흥 공로로 과학기술훈장 혁신장을 수상하셨습니다. 연구업적으로는 국내논문 115편, 국외논문 64편, 학술발표 186편이 있으며, 저서로는 59권의 국문저서, 11권의 영문저서가 있습니다. 이중 회귀분석과 실험계획법은 이 분야를 공부하는 모든 사람들의 필독 도서입니다. 서울대에서 교육하시는 동안 박사 31명과 석사 86명을 배출하셨습니다.
2017년 7월 14일에 통계학 분야에서는 최초로 대한민국학술원 회원으로 선출되셨습니다.

A clinical trial is a research study in humans that aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a medical treatment or behavioral intervention. This tutorial will provide an overview of the different stages of drug development and will cover the fundamental principles of the design, conduct, and statistical analysis of clinical trials. Specific topics which will be discussed include Phase I trials (3+3 design, accelerated titration design, Bayesian continual reassessment design), Phase II trials (single and multi-stage designs), Phase III trials (superiority, non-inferiority, cross-over, and adaptive trials), and Pragmatic trials. Strategies for randomizing patients, interim analysis, and dealing with non-compliance and missing data will also be addressed. Numerous examples of clinical trials from different disease areas will be presented to illustrate the methods.
한국통계학회는 통계학 전공 연구원들이 가장 활발하게 활동하는 학회로 내년 춘계는 부산대학교, 추계는 이화여자대학교에서 개최할 예정입니다.
전산통계학과 소속 학부생들도 연구한 결과를 다른 연구자들에게 공유할 수 있는 기회를 가졌으면 좋겠습니다.
